SEE-Change is not-for-profit community group that emerged from the work of two much-admired ANU academics. Professor Stephen Boyden wrote about the potential for community centres in which citizens of all ages and backgrounds could work together to learn from each other. Professor Bob Douglas knew Stephen's work, and in 2006 assembled a round-table to talk about making this dream a reality. And so, SEE-Change was born – the SEE stands for Society, Environment, and Economy. The vision is one of communities creating a sustainable Canberra, and our mission is to inspire, inform and support action to reduce Canberra’s ecological footprint.SEE-Change activities cover a broad spectrum: from knowledge-sharing workshops and community events (movie nights, fairs, open house days) that bring people together on topics of sustainability, to solar panel bulk buys and bike-trailer hire programs, local groups are finding new ways all the time to engage individuals and improve our community.
